Quite mixed first impressions of Peru... After arriving in Puna, Peru, in the late afternoon, we immediately took off to do the "mandatory" boat trip to the floating reed islands. They should rather be called "floating souvenir shops", though. A most horrible experience! Total "into-your-face-tourism". Dreadful. It is actually a shame, since the islands are quite impressive, but the whole thing is really nothing more than a floating Disneyland. At least the islands you get to see during the standard tours.

The very pittoresque full moon over the lake helped soothing the totally artificial experience a little. But I was still very happy to get back to the hostel. But also Puno was not really intriguing - touting in Peru is so much more agressive than in Bolivia. I think I have been spoilt a bit. Could not wait to get away from Puno.
